8 Cooperation agreements signed between Kuwait and Tajikistan

The Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Tajikistan to Kuwait, H. E. Dr. Zubaydullo Zubaydzoda, emphasized that his country views Kuwait as an important and reliable partner both regionally and globally.

The Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, H. E. Ambassador Samih Hayat, praised the strong and rapidly growing Kuwaiti-Tajik relations.

The Ambassador highlighted the visit of Tajik President, H. E. Emomali Rahmon to Kuwait, which led to the signing of 8 cooperation agreements between the two nations.

In a statement to journalists during the celebration of Tajikistan’s Independence Day on Thursday evening, H. E. Ambassador Samih Hayat revealed that the opening of a Kuwaiti embassy in Dushanbe is imminent.

Importantly, the Ambassador mentioned that discussions are underway with the Tajik Ambassador through diplomatic channels, to submit the name of the nominated Kuwaiti Ambassador, hoping for approval from the Tajik President, emphasizing that these are standard procedures between countries.

In turn, the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of Tajikistan to Kuwait, H. E. Dr. Zubaydullo Zubaydzoda, emphasized that his country views Kuwait as an important and reliable partner both regionally and globally.

Highlighting about the solid relations between the two nations, Dr. Zubaydzoda noted that the strong ties between Dushanbe and Kuwait are rooted in shared spiritual and historical bonds, as well as in the fraternal relations between the leaderships of the two brotherly countries.

In his speech during the celebration of Tajikistan’s 33rd Independence Anniversary and the 30th anniversary of its constitution, Dr. Zubaydzoda highlighted the official visit of Tajikistan’s President, H. E. Emomali Rahmon, to Kuwait from November 3 to 5, 2024, as a key moment in bilateral relations.

Consequently, Dr. Zubaydzoda noted that during the visit, a new package of agreements was signed, laying a strong foundation for expanding cooperation, particularly in economic, trade, and investment sectors. Additionally, he mentioned Kuwait’s intention to open an embassy in Tajikistan soon, which will further enhance the development of ties between the two nations.

Dr. Zubaydzoda also emphasized Kuwait’s significant role in supporting Tajikistan’s development through financial institutions and development funds, particularly the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.

Moreover, Dr. Zubaydzoda further mentioned that preparations are underway for the next session of the Tajik-Kuwaiti Joint Governmental Committee for Trade, Economic, and Technical Cooperation, which will be held in Kuwait.

Dr. Zubaydzoda stated that Tajikistan cooperates closely with Kuwait within the framework of international and regional organizations. These include: the United Nations; Organization of Islamic Cooperation; Asian Cooperation Dialogue and; Gulf Cooperation Council. He highlighted that both countries share similar positions and common visions on many international and regional issues.

On the occasion, Dr. Zubaydzoda stated that the Republic of Tajikistan gained its independence on September 9, 1991. He emphasized that since that date, and over the past thirty-three years, Tajikistan has made significant strides in preserving its independence and sovereignty, achieving numerous accomplishments along the way.

Furthermore, Dr. Zubaydzoda added that one of the historic steps taken by Tajikistan’s leadership in the early years of independence was holding a popular referendum on November 6, 1994, to adopt a new constitution for the country. This year being celebrated as the thirtieth anniversary of this historic event.

Dr. Zubaydzoda explained that under the leadership of H. E. President Emomali Rahmon, Tajikistan is making steady progress towards a brighter future through various programs, visions, and strategies.

Summarizing further, Dr. Zubaydzoda highlighted the National Development Strategy until 2030, which focuses on four main priorities: energy, communications, food security, and industry.
