5 Convicts executed, 3 sentences postponed

Five convicts were executed in Sulaibiya, while three executions were postponed due to waivers. Forensic doctors confirmed the deaths, with one convict surviving 17 minutes due to his size. The bodies were handed over to the families.

4 men and women climbed the podium and had their sentence executed at the prison complex in Crusader.
A convict presented a complete concession from the blood guardians and was spared from the gallows.

Today morning, 20th January, the death sentence was carried out at the prison complex in the Sulaibiya area for 5 individuals convicted of murder. The convicts included two Kuwaiti citizens, one person of unspecified nationality, and an Egyptian expatriate.

Meanwhile, the death sentence for three other Kuwaiti citizens convicted of murder was postponed after they presented waivers from the victims’ blood guardians in the final moments.

A security source informed Al-Jarida that the execution of the death sentence took place in the presence of several key officials. These included representatives from the Criminal Execution Prosecution, the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Correctional Institutions Affairs and the Acting Execution of Sentences, Brigadier General Fahd Al-Obaid, the Director General of the Criminal Evidence Department, Major General Eid Al-Owaihan, the Director of the Central Prison Department, Colonel Nasser Al-Muslim, leaders from the correctional institutions sector, and the execution of sentences. Also present were representatives from the Amiri Diwan, Ministry of Health doctors, and officials from the Department of Forensic Medicine.

The source further revealed that for the three convicts whose executions were postponed, one of the Kuwaiti citizens presented a complete waiver from the blood guardians, officially approved by the Shariah Documentation Department of the Ministry of Justice.

The other two Kuwaiti convicts, who are also citizens, provided waivers from the blood guardians in the final moments, but their documents were incomplete, preventing the formal completion of the waivers. These incomplete waivers were referred to the Amiri Court for direct review and approval.

The source clarified that the General Directorate of Forensic Evidence received the bodies of the deceased after the execution was carried out. The bodies were then transferred to the Forensic Medicine Department in preparation for their handover to the families.

It was noted that the execution process proceeded smoothly, beginning at 8 a.m. and concluding at 9:30 a.m., after which forensic doctors and Ministry of Health doctors confirmed the deaths of the individuals.

Two are waiting for the approval of Amiri Diwan on concessions

A security source confirmed to the newspaper that two of the three convicts whose executions were postponed are awaiting approval from the Amiri Diwan for the concessions submitted. If approval is not granted, a date will be set for the execution of their sentences.

Have mercy on me and forgive me

The convicted citizen, who was executed this morning, reportedly asked the execution committee for mercy and forgiveness before falling silent. She was then led to the execution area, where the death sentence was carried out. According to forensic doctors, she passed away 9 minutes and 25 seconds after the execution.

They called the lawyer quickly

One of the convicts, standing before the Committee for the Execution of the Death Penalty, requested to contact his lawyer and brother to inquire about the waiver from the blood guardians. The committee granted the request, and the convict’s lawyer was contacted.

The lawyer asked for additional time to communicate with the blood guardians and was given half an hour for negotiations. However, the lawyer later informed the committee that the blood guardians had refused to grant the waiver in any form. The convict’s brother then requested the committee to determine the date for the receipt of his brother’s body.

Egyptian convict’s execution lasts 17 minutes

When the Egyptian convict was brought before the Execution Committee to be asked about his final request, he responded with a simple “Thank you.” After the execution, he remained alive for 17 minutes. Forensic doctors attributed the prolonged duration of his death to the size and physique of his body, noting his large frame and long structure.
