43 Women lawyers to continue practicing after nationality revocation

The Lawyers Association announced on Monday that, as part of its ongoing cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, led by Minister Counselor Nasser Al-Sumait, and to uphold the smooth functioning of legal and professional work within established legal frameworks, the Association’s Admissions Committee has decided that female lawyers whose nationalities were revoked may continue practicing law, provided they are recognized under Article (8) as being treated as Kuwaitis in the nationality category.
President of the association, Adnan Abel, affirmed that the decision was made following a comprehensive legal review, coordinated efforts with relevant authorities, and in accordance with issued decrees and Cabinet Resolution No. 67/2025, which mandates amending the status of women whose nationalities were revoked and ensuring their equality in rights and benefits.
Secretary of the association, Khaled Al-Suwaifan, stated that the decision applies to 43 female lawyers. He emphasized the association’s commitment to maintaining professional stability, noting that many of the affected lawyers manage law firms and bear responsibilities toward their clients, necessitating measures to ensure the continuity of judicial work without disruption.
