3 Kuwaiti students head to Uzbekistan for Int’l Chemistry Olympiad 2026
- Kuwait has dispatched a team of its brightest young science students to Uzbekistan to compete in the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) 2026, one of the world’s most prestigious competitions for secondary school students.
The Ministry of Education announced that the national team, representing both public and private schools, will participate in the Olympiad, which takes place in Tashkent from July 10 to 19.
The Kuwaiti delegation comprises three outstanding high school students, Ali Al-Qallaf, Zahra Al-Haddad, and Fatima Al-Mulla, who have undergone intensive academic preparation to compete alongside some of the world’s most gifted young chemists.
The students are accompanied by Issa Al-Qallaf and Haifa Al-Adwani, chemistry supervisors from the Ministry of Education, while the team is overseen by the Ministry’s Science Technical Guidance Department.
The ministry noted that the team’s participation has been made possible through the support of the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity, one of the specialized centers under the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), reflecting Kuwait’s continued commitment to developing scientific talent and encouraging innovation among its youth.
According to the ministry, participation in international scientific Olympiads forms part of a broader national strategy to identify, nurture and empower gifted students, equipping them with advanced scientific skills while providing opportunities to compete on the global stage.
Beyond the competition itself, the Olympiad offers students valuable exposure to international scientific collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving and cross-cultural exchange, experiences that contribute to building the next generation of Kuwaiti scientists and innovators.
The Ministry of Education wished the team every success, expressing confidence that the students will represent Kuwait with distinction and achieve results worthy of the country’s growing reputation in international scientific competitions.
