‘2024 Korean Street Food Festival’ co-hosted by GUST and Republic of Korea Embassy

The Korean Street Food Festival provided a rare opportunity to savor the flavors of traditional Korean street food, loved by locals in Korea, such as; Gimbap, Tteokbokki, Bulgogi, and assorted chicken, with two special sessions on the recipe for Khimchi, a signature fermented dish.

The event, attracting many Kuwaitis, GUST faculty, students, and guests from diverse nationalities, also featured renowned Korean restaurants including Kim’s House, Korea Gwan, Seoulian, Sinjeon Tteokbokki, The Khimchi, and Thomas Bokkee.

The 7th edition of the event is especially meaningful as it takes place at the GUST campus. This gala highlights the growing influence of Korean culture among young Kuwaitis, with a rising interest in Korean traditions, as seen in the recent Nobel Prize in Literature awarded to Han Kang in 2024.

The Korean Street Food Festival this year is expected to further familiarize and engage many Kuwaitis, including university students, with Korean culture, cementing the enduring bonds between Kuwait and South Korea.
