200 patrols, 420 officers, 338 cameras will monitor Kuwait roads as schools reopen
The Directorate-General of Traffic has completed preparations for the return of schools next week, deploying 200 traffic patrols and 420 officers across roads and key locations to improve traffic safety and ease congestion during peak hours.
Acting Director of the Traffic Awareness Department Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Bu Hassan said the preparations are part of the Ministry of Interior’s “Prevention and Safety” campaign and include intensified field and awareness efforts as students return to schools.
Speaking to Kuwait Radio, Bu Hassan said traffic patrols and officers will be deployed to monitor traffic movement, respond to congestion and help maintain smooth traffic flow.
He said the Traffic Directorate also relies on an integrated traffic management and monitoring system. A total of 258 intersections are connected to the traffic control room, where signals can be programmed according to traffic density to regulate vehicle movement and reduce congestion.
The monitoring system also includes 338 cameras covering roads and intersections, allowing authorities to track traffic conditions and respond more quickly to traffic jams.
Bu Hassan stressed that the preparations aim to strengthen traffic safety at the start of the new school year, while increasing awareness and urging motorists to comply with traffic regulations.
