200 firefighters battled blaze; nine fire stations, Army, and National Guard respond Amghara inferno

. . . harsh weather fuels fire in flammable material stores

Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Gharib, Director of the Public Relations and Media Department at the Kuwait Fire Force, confirmed to Al-Rai that the massive fire that broke out in the Amghara scrap yard is now under control.

The blaze, which began at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, has been tackled by teams from nine fire stations, along with support from the Army Fire Department and the National Guard.

Approximately 200 firefighters have been working tirelessly to contain the fire, which remains ongoing as teams ensure it does not spread further.

Al-Gharib noted that the combination of high temperatures and strong winds significantly contributed to the fire’s rapid spread. The scrap yard contained highly flammable materials, including wood, ceramics, iron, construction supplies, and paint, which intensified the blaze.

Major General Talal Al-Roumi, Chief of the Kuwait Fire Force, is on-site overseeing operations. Security forces, traffic police, and emergency personnel are also present to ensure safety and maintain order during the firefighting efforts.
