2 Kuwaitis detained for speeding up to 181 km/h
Egyptian faces deportation over private car passenger service
Two Kuwaiti citizens have been detained after being caught driving at dangerously high speeds of up to 181 km/h on public roads, while an Egyptian expatriate has been referred for deportation over operating an illegal private passenger transport service, according to the Ministry of Interior.
Traffic patrols reportedly monitored and intercepted the two Kuwaiti motorists after they were found engaging in reckless driving that significantly exceeded permitted speed limits.
Authorities said the extreme speeding posed a serious threat to road safety and endangerment of other road users. The individuals were immediately taken into custody and referred to the competent traffic authorities for legal action.
In a separate enforcement case, an Egyptian expatriate was arrested after being found operating a private vehicle used to transport passengers without the required licences or legal authorization. The activity was classified as a violation of Kuwait’s residency and transport regulations, prompting authorities to initiate deportation procedures.
The Ministry of Interior stressed that such violations will not be tolerated, highlighting ongoing security and traffic campaigns aimed at reducing reckless driving, improving road discipline, and eliminating unlicensed commercial transport activities.
Officials reiterated their commitment to strict enforcement of traffic laws, noting that repeated awareness and monitoring efforts are part of broader measures to enhance public safety and uphold legal compliance across the country.
