147 arrested, 2,841 citations issued during security crackdown in Jleeb, Salmiya

Under the direct supervision of Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, the Ministry of Interior conducted two security campaigns in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Salmiya areas.

In a statement to KUNA, the Ministry said that the first campaign focused on commercial establishments operating illegally from inside residential buildings in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh.

Led by the Criminal Security Sector, with support from the General Department of Criminal Investigation and other relevant agencies, the operation aimed to address violations that jeopardize residents’ safety and security.

Over five days, the authorities identified 40 properties in violation and issued 89 citations for unlicensed commercial activities.

Additionally, 147 individuals were arrested and referred to the appropriate authorities for legal action. Electricity was cut off at unlicensed sites, and official warnings were issued in collaboration with the participating agencies.

The second campaign, conducted in Salmiya on Friday, focused on traffic and security violations. It resulted in 2,841 traffic violations, the arrest of 15 individuals for residency and labor law violations, 5 absconders, and 17 wanted individuals.

Three individuals were detained for not carrying identification documents, 9 vehicles and motorcycles wanted by the judiciary were impounded, and 3 motorcycles were confiscated for committing traffic offenses. Two individuals were arrested for possession of alcoholic beverages and one for criminal execution.

The Ministry emphasized that its campaigns will continue across the country to ensure law enforcement, urging citizens and residents to cooperate with security personnel and report any illegal activities by calling the emergency number (112).
