108,720 new cars were sold in Kuwait in the first 9 months

Japanese cars were in the lead, followed by Chinese, American, Korean and German.

The Kuwaiti automotive market recorded strong growth during the first nine months of 2025, with new car sales rising by 16.4% compared to the same period in 2024. According to statistics reviewed by Al-Rai, total sales reached 108,729 vehicles, averaging about 12,081 cars per month, compared to 93,380 vehicles (average of 10,376 per month) in the previous year.

Sales of mainstream brands surged to 95,890 vehicles, marking a 19.6% increase, while luxury brands registered around 10,000 vehicles during the same period.

Monthly demand trends showed a noticeable peak. September recorded the highest volume with 14,220 vehicles sold followed by April with 13,380. Meanwhile, January was the slowest month with 9,320 vehicles sold.

Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) continued to dominate customer preferences, representing 65.7% of total market share. Sales in this category climbed 21.5% year-on-year to reach 71,460 units, averaging nearly 7,940 SUVs per month.

In terms of origin, Japanese brands led the market, selling 44,624 vehicles—a 12.7% increase, accounting for 41% of total market share. They were followed by:

  • Chinese brands with 30,020 vehicles (+35.3%, 27.6% share),

  • American brands with 14,300 vehicles (+8.4%, 13.2% share),

  • Korean brands with 9,763 vehicles (+9.3%, 9% share), and

  • German brands with 5,299 vehicles (+4.9%).

Overall, these figures reflect a notably strong consumer demand and a competitive automotive market in Kuwait, driven particularly by the rising popularity of SUVs and the growing presence of Chinese and Japanese manufacturers.
