1070 new Kuwaitis given employment to the oil sector
Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) hired 1,090 new employees during the fiscal year 2023-2024, thus raising the number of workers in the oil sector to 22.8 thousand workers.
Sources said that KPC employed 1,070 Kuwaitis and 20 non-Kuwaiti employees with experience, that were not available in the local market during the past fiscal year. They revealed that KPC raised the Kuwaitization rates in the oil sector to about 90.8%, excluding the workforce at Al-Ahmadi Hospital, which is affiliated with the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), as reported by the Arabic daily Al Anba.
The total number of Kuwaitis appointed on oil contractor contracts amounted to 5,477 workers by the end of December 2023. On the other hand, sources said that the costs of salaries and benefits for employees working in KPC and its subsidiaries amount to 1.7 billion dinars. In interest of the ladies working at KPC, the percentage of women’s representation in the membership of the boards of directors of subsidiaries has been raised to nearly 40% in some companies for the first time in the history of the oil sector, thanks to the application of the principle of justice, equal opportunities, and empowering women as a role model in excellence.
