
The Turkish Embassy in Kuwait hosted a reception at the Marina Hotel on August 31, 2025 to mark the Victory Day on August 30.
The event was honored by the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Mishaal Al-Sabah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense, alongside the guest of honor, Brigadier General Barak Abdul Mohsen Al-Farhan, Commander of the 94th Mechanized Brigade of the Kuwaiti Army.
The reception was also attended by high-ranking Kuwaiti officials and military representatives, ambassadors, military attachés, members of the diplomatic corps, cultural envoys, and representatives from companies and NGOs, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense, Ambassador Sonmez,
In her welcoming remarks, the Ambassador of Turkey to Kuwait, H.E. Tuba Nur Sonmez highlighted Ankara’s significant advancements and outstanding capabilities in defense and military sectors, emphasizing the strategic importance of the Turkish Armed Forces as a force for regional stability and peace.
Ambassador Sonmez also showcased recent achievements made by Turkey’s defense industry, particularly in technological innovation, increased production capacity, and the notable growth in defense exports. She underscored the expanding global reach of Turkish defense products and the growing interest from international markets.
The ambassador further emphasized the strengthening of bilateral military cooperation between Turkey and Kuwait, referencing the Government-to-Government (G2G) agreement signed during the official visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Turkey on May 7, 2024.
She noted that this agreement marks a key milestone in defense collaboration and reflects Turkey’s commitment to deepening strategic ties with Kuwait, a sister nation sharing common values and interests.
Following her speech, a video presentation showcased Turkey’s latest defense products and scenes from military exercises of the Turkish Armed Forces. Ambassador Sonmez then read a message from His Excellency President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the occasion of Victory Day.
Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Mishaal Al-Sabah also delivered a speech, offering congratulations and best wishes, expressing pride in the dedication and sacrifices of the Turkish Armed Forces in safeguarding sovereignty and contributing to peace and stability.
He reaffirmed Kuwait’s appreciation for the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries, particularly in the defense sector, and expressed readiness to further strengthen these ties in the future.
The reception concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony.
