In a significant fight against international drug trafficking networks, the Ministry of Interior has dealt a heavy blow to a cross-border criminal network attempting to smuggle drugs into the country.

The Criminal Security Sector, under the supervision and direct field follow-up of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, executed an operation that led to the arrest of two Asians operating in the Shuwaikh Residential Area and Kaifan, reports Al-Rai daily.

According to a statement issued by the General Department of Security Relations and Media on Sunday, the security authorities have seized 14 kilograms of pure heroin, 8 kilograms of shabu (methamphetamine), and two high-precision electronic scales used for drug weighing and packaging.

The suspects, believed to be affiliated with the international “Lyrica” criminal network, have been referred for further investigation and prosecution.

This decisive action forms part of the Ministry’s broader strategy to combat and dismantle drugs trafficking networks in the country.
