Kuwait warns of temporary power cuts in industrial, agricultural areas

The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy announced the possibility of temporary power cuts in several industrial and agricultural areas due to soaring electrical loads, which have peaked at 16,732 megawatts. The surge is attributed to extreme heat and the shutdown of three power generation units at the Doha East Power and Water Plant.

In its official statement, the Ministry stressed that the power cuts are a precautionary measure to protect the national electrical grid from overloading.

Affected Areas include the industrial zones – Mina Abdullah, Subhan, Sulaibiya, Al-Rai and Shuwaikh; while the agricultural areas include Rawdatain, Al-Wafra and Abdali, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The Ministry emphasized that electric loads are being monitored continuously, and any cuts will be temporary and localized, to maintain the overall stability of the grid during the period of high demand.

The Ministry called on citizens and residents to reduce unnecessary electricity consumption, especially during peak hours, to support national efforts in mitigating outages and ensuring reliable service.
