High stakes, high precision; customs dept goes full tech to thwart drug smuggling

The General Administration of Customs has completed training for staff on the operation and use of the newly implemented pallet inspection device at the Sulaibiya Customs and the Vegetable Market.

The administration explained that the training is part of a broader plan to equip customs personnel with the latest security inspection technologies, aligning with local, regional, and international standards.

This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of inspecting goods and shipments while safeguarding the country against potential threats.

The customs authorities have emphasized that such training programs are conducted regularly, particularly for radiological scanning devices, reports Al-Rai daily.

These advanced tools represent a significant technological leap, providing high-precision inspections, deterring smuggling attempts, and protecting national security.

The step reflects the commitment of General Administration of Customs to secure border crossings and invest in the development of its workforce through modern technology and specialized training.
