Green peas Samosa is the perfect handheld snack. This traditional snack in many places in India, as well as in Pakistan, is a perfect appetizer for parties, get-togethers, or for Iftar during Ramadan.

Ingredients:
For Filling:
2 cups blanched or frozen green peas
2 tbsp oil
1tsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp ginger chilli paste
1 tsp garam masala powder
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp clove-cinnamon powder
1/2 tsp amchoor powder
Pinch of turmeric powder
1 tbsp sesame seeds
Salt as per taste
2 tbsp coriander leaves
1 tbsp mint leaves
Other Ingredients For Samosa
For slurry (to stick the samosas)
1 tbsp all purpose flour
Water
Pinch of salt
Oil for deep frying
15 readymade samosa sheets.
Instructions:
Preparing filling for samosas:
- In a chopping jar add blanched or frozen green peas, coarsely chop it in a chopper.
- Heat up oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, let it splatter and then add asafoetida, ginger-chili paste and coarsely chopped green peas.
- Season with salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder, clove-cinnamon powder, amchoor powder, garam masala and mix well.
- Cover and let it simmer over a low flame for 2 minutes so as to absorb water from the peas.
- Turn off the flame and add sesame seeds and finely chopped coriander/mint leaves.
- Folding and Frying Samosas.
- Adding water to the flour make a thick paste(slurry)
- Take a readymade samosa sheet.
- Place 2 tablespoons filling and keep folding the edges and sealing them with the slurry to form a triangle.
- Heat oil for deep frying. – Once the oil is medium hot, reduce flame to low-medium, add 4 to
- 5 samosas into the oil carefully and cook on both sides till they become golden brown. Do not cook on high flame.
- Remove the fried golden brown samosas onto an absorbent paper
- Serve samosa hot with green coriander/mint chutney, sour and sweet tamarind chutney or enjoy with tea or coffee.
Traditionally samosa is deep fried. But health-conscious people can try to make baked samosa.
