Trump ‘gets along well’ with Jong UN, says open for a meeting

Before departing Washington for South Korea on the first leg of his Asian tour since returning to office, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his willingness to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

“I would love to,” Trump told reporters at the White House when asked about a possible meeting. “He knows we’re going there.”

The president emphasized that he is “100% open” to holding talks with Kim, adding that he “gets along” well with the North Korean leader, whom he last met in 2019.

“My relationship with the leader of North Korea is very good,” Trump said, signaling potential openness to reviving dialogue between Washington and Pyongyang.

Trump’s multi-nation tour includes stops in Japan, Malaysia, and South Korea, where he is expected to hold key discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping aimed at advancing a new U.S.-China trade agreement.
