Ministry tackles summer debris ahead of rainy season in Kuwait

The Ministry of Public Works is actively cleaning rain-affected areas across various governorates, removing waste accumulated over the summer months, including cans, water bottles, debris, tree leaves, and construction waste. This cleanup effort aims to prevent obstructions to rainwater drainage and prepare the communities for upcoming rains, according to Al Jarida newspaper.
The ministry sources stated that the ministry is focused on accelerating the cleanup of rain-affected areas in preparation for the winter season. Contractor teams are working according to specific schedules to remove waste from these areas, including highways and local communities, and to establish cleaning dates.
They noted that large amounts of dirt and waste are extracted, packaged, and then removed by municipal hygiene teams. These teams continue their work to ensure thorough cleaning and conduct necessary tests to verify that the cleaning is complete and that rainwater drainage functions properly.
The ministry urged citizens and residents to keep these areas clean after they have been serviced and to avoid littering, to maintain cleanliness. It was also noted that some communities have blocked rainwater drainage pipes due to accumulated debris, requiring significant effort to clean and restore proper drainage functionality.
