Shortly after the independence of the State of Kuwait, Thailand and Kuwait established diplomatic relations on 14 June 1963. More than six decades later, this enduring partnership continues to flourish, strengthened by growing bilateral cooperation and vibrant people-to-people exchanges that have deepened the friendship between our two nations.

Over the years, Thailand and Kuwait have maintained close and cordial diplomatic engagement through regular high-level exchanges and constructive dialogue. At the highest level, our relationship is anchored in profound mutual respect and longstanding friendship between our leaderships.

We fondly recall June 2006, when His Late Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah honored Bangkok with his presence during the celebrations marking the historic 60-year reign of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great.

That memorable occasion reflected the warmth and depth of ties between our two countries. Today, under the auspicious reign of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of the State of Kuwait, the same spirit of mutual respect, trust, and friendship continues to guide our bilateral journey forward.

At the governmental level, bilateral engagement has gained renewed momentum. In 2024, our then Prime Minister had the honor of meeting His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait, on the sidelines of the Third Summit of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue in Doha. Later that year, in December, Thailand and Kuwait convened the First Thailand–Kuwait Political Consultation in Bangkok, reaffirming our shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in key sectors including trade, food security, healthcare, and education.

These areas of cooperation are not merely policy objectives on paper; they are firmly rooted in the close and enduring ties between our peoples. For decades, Thailand has had the distinct privilege of being a trusted destination for Kuwaiti citizens seeking healthcare, wellness, and medical treatment.

This represents one of the most meaningful expressions of trust between our nations. When Kuwaiti families choose Thailand for their healthcare needs, they place their confidence and well-being in our hands. We regard that trust with the utmost responsibility, striving to provide not only world-class medical services and advanced healthcare facilities, but also the genuine warmth, compassion, and hospitality for which Thailand is renowned.

Thailand also remains one of the most popular travel destinations for Kuwaiti visitors. In 2025, approximately six percent of Kuwaiti nationals visited Thailand, reflecting the strong appeal of our country among the people of Kuwait. With its rich cultural heritage, breathtaking natural attractions, world-class hospitality, and the widespread availability of Halal cuisine and Muslim-friendly services, Thailand continues to warmly welcome visitors from Kuwait and across the Gulf region with respect, comfort, and care.

Our people-to-people ties reflect a genuine and reciprocal bond. While Thailand remains a trusted destination for Kuwaiti citizens, the State of Kuwait has generously opened its heart and opportunities to approximately 1,080 Thai nationals who today proudly call Kuwait their second home. Their contributions, experiences, and daily interactions help strengthen the human dimension of our bilateral relationship, anchoring diplomatic relations in real and shared human experiences.

Building upon these strong foundations, Thailand, as a true and trusted friend of Kuwait, remains committed to further expanding bilateral cooperation in ways that support Kuwait Vision 2035 and complement Thailand’s own development aspirations.

Our two countries share a strategic alignment in areas such as economic diversification, sustainable development, food security, healthcare, innovation, and human capital development. These shared priorities provide a solid platform for future collaboration and mutual prosperity.

At the international level, Thailand and Kuwait are united by common aspirations for peace, stability, and sustainable development. Both nations have earned international recognition for their commitment to humanitarian action and constructive engagement within the global community.

These shared values provide an excellent backdrop for expanding cooperation within multilateral and multicultural forums, where our countries can work together to address regional and global challenges while promoting dialogue, understanding, and inclusive development.

As we commemorate this historic milestone of sixty-three years of diplomatic relations, the Royal Thai Embassy and the Thai community in Kuwait extend our deepest gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of the State of Kuwait, the Government of Kuwait, and the people of Kuwait. It is your unwavering trust, generous friendship, and enduring goodwill that have enabled our bilateral relations to flourish and prosper throughout the decades.

As we look to the future, we remain confident that the bonds connecting Thailand and Kuwait will continue to grow stronger, bringing even greater opportunities for cooperation, friendship, and shared success for generations to come.
