The Ministry of Social Affairs has introduced a new service enabling elderly citizens to apply for vehicle license plates through the government application “Sahel.”
The initiative is designed to streamline the process and enhance accessibility for elderly Kuwaitis, providing them with a more efficient way to obtain license plates, reports Al-Rai newspaper.
In a statement on the Ministry’s official social media account (X), officials noted that the service aims to simplify and speed up the issuance of plates, while also offering direct communication with applicants to track the progress of their requests.
To qualify for the service, applicants must be Kuwaiti nationals aged 65 or older and must secure approval from a medical committee. Required documents include a copy of the applicant’s elderly priority card, civil ID, and an approved medical report.
The Ministry further clarified that holders of these license plates are entitled to park in areas reserved for the elderly at state and official institutions. The misuse of these spaces by those without the proper permit is prohibited under Law No. 18 of 2016.
This initiative reflects the Ministry’s commitment to making government services more accessible for the elderly and improving their overall quality of life.
