Residency Affairs eases rules, permits transactions with embassy-extended passports

In a humanitarian gesture, Brigadier General Farid Al-Mutairi, Director General of the General Department of Residency Affairs, has issued instructions allowing certain residents to complete their official transactions despite having expired passports.
According to the circular, residents who were unable to renew their passports can still process their residency-related procedures if their passports have been officially extended by their embassies.
The decision comes in light of the current regional situation, with the aim of easing procedures and ensuring services continue smoothly.
Under the new instructions, authorities will accept expired passports that carry an official extension stamp. Applicants must also provide a letter from their embassy in Kuwait confirming the extension, provided that the letter is authenticated by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
All residency departments have been directed to strictly follow these guidelines and process eligible applications without delay.
