Pakistan willing to de-escalate if India halts strikes, says Asif

Hours after India attacked Pakistani terror outfits on Wednesday in Pakistan and PoK, the Pakistani Defence Minister said Islamabad will not escalate tensions in the conflict if New Delhi ceases its Operation Sindoor and other aggressive moves.

“We have been saying all along in the last fortnight that we’ll never initiate anything hostile towards India. But if we’re attacked, we’ll respond.

If India backs down, we will definitely wrap up this tension,” Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif told Bloomberg Television.

The remarks came as Islamabad gasps for breath after nine targets in Pakistan, including 4 in Punjab and 5 in PoK, were blown up by the Indian military non-contact strikes late at night as New Delhi avenged the killings of 26 innocents by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, according to News18.com

“If we are attacked, we will respond. If India backs down, we will definitely wrap up these things. But as long as we are under fire, we have to respond,” Asif told a news channel.
