Zero injuries after artificial ceiling fell in school laboratory

The collapse of the industrial ceiling in a room designated as a laboratory in a middle school in Farwaniya sparked a discussion on social media yesterday. This came at a time when the Ministries of Education and Housing exchanged their disavowal of the site’s affiliation, an Arab daily reported.

The incident recorded no injuries, and sources said that it was caused by water leaking into the ceiling of the laboratory room in Ahmed Al-Qattan Intermediate School for Boys in the West Abdullah Al-Mubarak area of Al-Farwaniyah Educational District. The leakage resulted in the dismantling of some of the decorative tiles hanging on the ceiling, which caused it to give way.

The source added that the school is covered by the residential guarantee, and repairs and maintenance are underway, since the laboratory has been closed and the concerned authorities have been informed to take the necessary action. The residential agency immediately denied the site’s affiliation, referring to the education ministry.
