{"id":99607,"date":"2022-06-29T16:14:43","date_gmt":"2022-06-29T13:14:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timeskuwait.com\/news\/?p=99607"},"modified":"2022-06-29T16:14:43","modified_gmt":"2022-06-29T13:14:43","slug":"the-indian-rupee-touches-all-time-low-against-kuwaiti-dinar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timeskuwait.com\/news\/the-indian-rupee-touches-all-time-low-against-kuwaiti-dinar\/","title":{"rendered":"The Indian rupee touches all time low against Kuwaiti dinar"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"gmail_default\">\n<p>The partially convertible rupee was trading at a record low of 78.86 per dollar (257.17 versus the Kuwaiti Dinar) in early trade, compared to its close of 78.85 on Tuesday, Indian news agency PTI reported.<\/p>\n<p>According to stock exchange data, foreign institutional investors were net sellers in the capital market on Tuesday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 12.44 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The renewed rise in global crude oil prices too have a negative bearing on the market sentiments, said analysts.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, the indices closed steady, while they have declined during the majority of the sessions so far in June.<\/p>\n<p>On rupee depreciation, Sugandha Sachdeva, Vice President &#8211; Commodity and Currency Research at Religare Broking, said: \u201cThe Indian rupee has plummeted to fresh lows, depreciating by around half a percent against the dollar owing to a muted trend in domestic equities, and strong gains in crude oil prices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPersistent selling by FIIs in the domestic markets is also putting pressure on the rupee,\u201d said Rahul Kalantri, VP Commodities, Mehta Equities Ltd.<\/p>\n<p>According to Kalantri, further economic sanctions on Russia may drive global energy prices higher and put pressure on emerging market currencies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe expect the rupee to remain volatile this week and could cross 78.55 levels,\u201d Kalantri said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The partially convertible rupee was trading at a record low of 78.86 per dollar (257.17 versus the Kuwaiti Dinar) in early trade, compared to its close of 78.85 on Tuesday, Indian news agency PTI reported.
