The General Traffic Department (GTD) intends to monitor motorists who park vehicles in \u2018No Parking\u2019 zones and those who obstruct the flow of traffic especially in front of government institutions.<\/p>\n
Security sources told Al-Rai about two years ago, the GTD was using vehicles equipped with state-of-the-art cameras on a test basis to track vehicles parked in \u2018prohibited places\u2019 and those obstruct traffic especially in front of government offices, commercial complexes and markets. Now the Ministry of Interior plans to sign a contract with these cars for what it called \u2018accurate monitoring of violating vehicles\u2019.<\/p>\n
The sources added “these cars have a built-in video recording system which monitors and photographs the violating vehicles and then the footage is downloaded into the GTD system and violations are recorded against the drivers without the need to manually issue a citation by the traffic police officer.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
