\nTo say less every word it is better<\/strong><\/em>
\nEven if in water there is a pearl purity<\/strong><\/em>
\nToo much could be harmful to your healthy<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

In connection with the 880th anniversary of the great medieval poet and thinker of Azerbaijan, Nizami Ganjavi, the year 2021 has been declared in the Republic of Azerbaijan as the \u2018Year of Nizami Ganjavi\u2019 by the order of President Ilham Aliyev. This year, a number of cultural events have been organized in the country and abroad. The year 1991 was also declared the \u2018Year of Nizami\u2019 by UNESCO in honor of the 850th anniversary of the poet.<\/p>\n

The poet\u2019s real name was Ilyas, his father\u2019s name was Yusuf, and his grandfather\u2019s name was Zaki: after the birth of his son Muhammad, his name was changed to the poet\u2019s full name, and his full name was Abu Muhammad Ilyas ibn Yusif ibn Zaki Muayyad.<\/p>\n

Nizami\u2019s works are well acquainted with in the oral and written traditions of Arabic and Persian literature, mathematics, astronomy, astrology, chemistry, medicine, botany, theology, interpretation of the Qur\u2019an, sharia, Christianity, Judaism, Iranian myths and shows good knowledge of legends, history, ethics, philosophy, esotericism, music and fine arts.<\/p>\n

Nizami lived all his life in Ganja city of Azerbaijan and wrote his poems in Persian, which was the language of poetry at that time. With his five immortal poems called \u2018Khamsa\u2019 (The Treasure of Secrets, Khosrov and Sheren, Leyli and Majnun, Seven Beauties, and Iskandername) he brought a completely new poetic voice and breath to world literature. Due to the works of Nizami and other artists published during that time, the XII-XVI centuries are considered the peak or renaissance of Azerbaijani literature.<\/p>\n

The highest criteria of personality For Nizami Ganjavi was humanism. Among the heroes of the poet, who resolutely rejected racial, national and religious discrimination, we meet representatives of other nations like Turks, Persians, Arabs, Chinese, Indians, Africans, Greeks, and Georgians. The humanist poet does not oppose the national or religious views of any of these heroes of different religions. Its heroes fight for justice, people\u2019s happiness and high goals. Respect for human personality and human labor is one of the leading themes of the poet\u2019s work.<\/p>\n

Take everyone\u2019s burden if you can<\/strong><\/em>
\nLabor is the greatest honor for man<\/strong><\/em>
\nWhen you get tired one day<\/strong><\/em>
\nPeople will help you anyway<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

One of the reasons for the immortality of Nizami\u2019s work is the social problems he solves. According to the poet, a wise, enlightened and just ruler should be at the head of the society, thus ensuring the harmonious relations of people in the society.<\/p>\n

When you want to learn a science,<\/strong><\/em>
\nTry to know everything by excellence.<\/strong><\/em>
\nA perfect saddle-maker more versed<\/strong><\/em>
\nBetter than a hat-maker unexperienced<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Power is in the science, no one else<\/strong><\/em>
\ncan dominate anyone without this.<\/strong><\/em>
\nThe rank of scientist is higher<\/strong><\/em>
\nThan indeed all of ranks other<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Nizami Ganjavi\u2019s work had a strong influence on the development of literature of the peoples of the Caucasus and the Middle East (Persian, Tajik, Indian, Afghan, Kurdish, Turkmen, Uzbek, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, etc.) and entered the treasury of world culture.<\/p>\n

Nizami Ganjavi\u2019s poems and verses have been translated into many languages of the world. Rare manuscripts of his works are preserved as precious pearls in the funds of famous libraries, museums and manuscripts of many cities (Moscow, New York, St. Petersburg, Baku, Tashkent, Tabriz, Tehran, Cairo, Istanbul, Delhi, London, Paris, etc.).<\/p>\n

The theme of religion and prophet is of special importance in the poet\u2019s work. He begins all his poems with the name of God Almighty, dedicating tawheed, minajat, medh, naat (gassida), merajname (types of East poetry) to God and his last prophet.<\/p>\n

N.Ganjavi had a monotheistic worldview, as in the religious and philosophical teachings of the ancient Azerbaijanis-turks (Tengrism), and in all cases denied the dualist, polytheistic systems.<\/p>\n

Throughout his life, Nizami prayed to God to make him thankful. Nizami\u2019s gratitude cannot be sought only in places where he uses the word \u201cthanks to God\u201d. The places where Nizami did not use this word in his works were also filled with gratitude. Thus, all of Nizami\u2019s applause to God, tawheeds, minajats (appeals), and praises to the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.s) were all thanks. The heroes in the poet\u2019s works often turn to God, praise, thank and pray to God, and ask for help from the Creator.<\/p>\n

Undoubtedly, Prophet Muhammad (s.a.s) is one of the historical figures whom the poet praises with all his heart and soul in the \u2018Treasury of Mysteries\u2019, the first masnavi (poem) of \u2018Khamsa. Azerbaijani academician Teymur Karimli\u2019s observations about the place and role of the image of the Prophet of Islam in Nizami\u2019s work are interesting. He writes: \u201cFor Nizami, like other medieval poets, the principles of Islam were a program of action in both public and private life. In particular, the life and work of the Prophet of Islam was an ideal, an example, a source of imitation for Nizami. In his poems, the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.s) does not appear as a specific historical figure, but as the most ideal person of all times and peoples\u201d.<\/p>\n

Dedicating six chapters to the Prophet of Islam in the \u2018Treasure of Mysteries\u2019, which consists of didactic stories, Poet calls himself \u201ca nightingale who sings for his flower.\u201d It is known that the \u2018flower\u2019 is also a metaphor for Islam.<\/p>\n

The poet also benefited from the historical facts about the life of the prophet, and did not spare the power of his poetic talent in using each event to reveal the individual features of the character of this saint:<\/p>\n

O great prince of the realm of mankind,<\/strong><\/em>
\nYou are of course the sultan of the mind<\/strong><\/em>
\nYou have of course excellent intelligence<\/strong><\/em>
\nYou are the end of those messengers (prophets),<\/strong><\/em>
\nThe sweet for the end, the salt for the beginning,<\/strong><\/em>
\nThe first flower of the Garden of Being.<\/strong><\/em>
\nAnd the last commander of all times\u2026<\/strong><\/em>
\nYou are the first source of meaning,<\/strong><\/em>
\nThe main spring of the water of living.<\/strong><\/em>
\nAdam was adorned with your land,<\/strong><\/em>
\nBoth worlds shone with your light.<\/strong><\/em>
\nWith your elixir this soil painted,<\/strong><\/em>
\nFor your sake the world is created\u2026<\/strong><\/em>
\nThe five foundations of religion were established,<\/strong><\/em>
\nIt ended the voice of many houses squashed\u2026<\/strong><\/em>
\nYou created seven roofs for this house,<\/strong><\/em>
\nAnd You entrusted it to four caliphs\u2026<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

A part of the poem of Iskandername says:<\/p>\n

From the kings by sword he took a lot of tribute,<\/strong><\/em>
\nWhat a throne Muhammad wanted, what a crown.<\/strong><\/em>
\nNo, no, I was wrong, that great Prophet<\/strong><\/em>
\nWas both the owner of the crown and throne.<\/strong><\/em>
\nHis throne was all these worlds,<\/strong><\/em>
