The General Directorate of Traffic is studying a proposal from the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport (PART) to allow cyclists to practice their hobby on Jaber Bridge, on Fridays only for two-and-a-half hours from five to seven in the morning. <\/p>\n
Informed security sources told Al-Rai the proposal is still under study, and in the event of approval, a specific mechanism will be put in place to allow bicycles on the Jaber Bridge Road in the safe lane only, in coordination with PART and the Traffic Engineering Department of the Ministry of Public Works. <\/p>\n
The bicyclists and the motorists will have to strictly adhere to road signs placed on the bridge warning motorists particularly of the presence of bicycles. This is to protect bicyclists from reckless motorists. This is in addition to placing emergency medical and ambulance teams in several locations. <\/p>\n
The sources added, “if the concerned authorities agree on these arrangements, a circular will be issued allowing cyclists to practice their hobby on the bridge, coinciding with the beginning of the winter season.” <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
