This traditional snack in many places in India, as well as in Pakistan, is a perfect appetizer for parties, get-togethers, or for Iftar during Ramadan.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Preparation and cooking time : 1 hour<br \/>\nYield: 12 to 15<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><br \/>\nFor Filling:<br \/>\n2 cups blanched or frozen green peas<br \/>\n2 tbsp oil<br \/>\n1tsp cumin seeds<br \/>\n1 tbsp ginger chilli paste<br \/>\n1 tsp garam masala powder<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp chili powder<br \/>\n1\/4 tsp clove-cinnamon powder<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp amchoor powder<br \/>\nPinch of turmeric powder<br \/>\n1 tbsp sesame seeds<br \/>\nSalt as per taste<br \/>\n2 tbsp coriander leaves<br \/>\n1 tbsp mint leaves<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other Ingredients For Samosa<\/strong><br \/>\nFor slurry (to stick the samosas)<br \/>\n1 tbsp all purpose flour<br \/>\nWater<br \/>\nPinch of salt<br \/>\nOil for deep frying<br \/>\n15 readymade samosa sheets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Instructions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparing filling for samosas:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In a chopping jar add blanched or frozen green peas, coarsely chop it in a chopper.<\/li>\n<li>Heat up oil in a pan, add cumin seeds, let it splatter and then add asafoetida, ginger-chili paste and coarsely chopped green peas.<\/li>\n<li>Season with salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder, clove-cinnamon powder, amchoor powder, garam masala and mix well.<\/li>\n<li>Cover and let it simmer over a low flame for 2 minutes so as to absorb water from the peas.<\/li>\n<li>Turn off the flame and add sesame seeds and finely chopped coriander\/mint leaves.<\/li>\n<li>Folding and Frying Samosas.<\/li>\n<li>Adding water to the flour make a thick paste(slurry)<\/li>\n<li>Take a readymade samosa sheet.<\/li>\n<li>Place 2 tablespoons filling and keep folding the edges and sealing them with the slurry to form a triangle.<\/li>\n<li>Heat oil for deep frying. &#8211; Once the oil is medium hot, reduce flame to low-medium, add 4 to<\/li>\n<li>5 samosas into the oil carefully and cook on both sides till they become golden brown. Do not cook on high flame.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the fried golden brown samosas onto an absorbent paper<\/li>\n<li>Serve samosa hot with green coriander\/mint chutney, sour and sweet tamarind chutney or enjoy with tea or coffee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Traditionally samosa is deep fried.
