Fifty distressed workers from the shelter including medical cases under the auspices of Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration\u00a0 left (OWWA) Thursday afternoon. Philippine Labor Attach\u00e9 Nasser Mustafa with POLO and OWWA officials and Dadabhai Travels Kuwait representative Paulita Lundang were present during the departure.<\/p>\n
On board Gulf Air forty three (43) were from the POLO Shelter, six (7) were medical cases and lost their jobs due to CPVOD 19 pandemic. The repatriation program coordinated with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) is an ongoing service provided for OFWs with no financial capacity to provide for airfare and those under the auspices of both departments. Currently there are still one hundred and sixty seven (167) women in the shelter and the rest are endorsed in Public Authority for Manpower and Deportation or jail. Among complaints filed by Filipino household workers currently in the shelter are underpaid, no salary, overwork, physical and verbal abuses, not enough food, and those with cases such a s theft, love case and more are under the Assistance to the Nationals Unit fo the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait.<\/p>\n
Dadabhai Travel, leading agency which accepts and arranges travel necessities for repatriation cases and normal flights spearheaded by Salmiyah Branch Manager Paulita Lundang stated in a brief interview \u201cWe have arranged about eight chartered flights during the lockdown period and continuously coordinate with all departments to ensure that OFWs return home safely to Philippines\u201d.<\/p>\n
The remaining number of women in the Philippine shelter with and without cases are currently being processed and expected to return home soon to Philippines.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
