{"id":3821,"date":"2019-01-16T05:26:10","date_gmt":"2019-01-16T05:26:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/192.163.207.100\/~timesku1\/news\/?p=3821"},"modified":"2019-01-16T05:26:10","modified_gmt":"2019-01-16T05:26:10","slug":"cultural-day-for-outstanding-kuwaiti-students-in-sri-lanka","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timeskuwait.com\/news\/cultural-day-for-outstanding-kuwaiti-students-in-sri-lanka\/","title":{"rendered":"Cultural day for outstanding Kuwaiti students in Sri Lanka"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) collaborated with Kuwait&#8217;s Ministry of Education (MoE) on Tuesday to organize a cultural trip for Kuwaiti students to Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n<p>The trip started at the rural village of Hiriwadunna, three hours away from Kandy city, where they learned about various types of plants and birds, participating in activities such as bull riding, river cruising and preparing traditional food.<\/p>\n<p>While staying at Hiriwadunna village, Fajer Al\u00ad-Shammari told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that she learned about the customs and traditions of Sri Lankan people and how they strived for a better life.<\/p>\n<p>Then the students traveled to Sigiriya city, located in central Sri Lanka and is about 180 kilometers away from capital Colombo, to visit the Sigiria Rock, a 337\u00admeter\u00adhigh ancient rock fortress.<\/p>\n<p>Rayan Al\u00ad-Refai told KUNA that her visit to the Sigiriya rock enlightened her and increased her knowledge about the rock&#8217;s history, which is one of its most vital landmarks.<\/p>\n<p>Sigiriya is listed as the World Heritage Sites of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
