Indian Embassy organized a function at its auditorium to commemorate the country’s Constitution Day and the 70th<\/sup> Anniversary of the adoption of India\u2019s Constitution. The Constitution of India formally came into effect on 26 January 1950, which is celebrated as Republic Day of India.<\/p>\n

A member of Kuwait’s National Assembly attended as the chief guest, and was joined by officials from the Government of Kuwait.\u00a0 Other attendees included members of diplomatic corps, representatives from Academia, and leading Think Tanks, representatives of the Indian Community in Kuwait, and a significant number of Kuwaiti and Indian students. An eminent Constitutional expert and Professor of Public Law at Kuwait University, Dr. Mohammad Al-Feeli, was the Keynote speaker at the event.<\/p>\n

In his address to the gathering, Ambassador of India to Kuwait H.E. K. Jeeva Sagar praised the Constitution for the progress of the country governed by strong, independent democratic institutions; and for the creation of an ecosystem which provides meaningful freedom for the realization of true potential of an individual.<\/p>\n

Underlining that Kuwait itself is a rule-based and Constitution-based nation, the Indian Ambassador Sagar thanked the leadership, the Government and the people of Kuwait for their humanitarian and friendly approach towards expatriates and the Indian community in Kuwait.<\/p>\n

In his keynote address, Dr. Feeli highlighted the salient features of the Indian constitution, particularly the aspects of Pluralism and Secularism, Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles of State Policy, and the principle of separation of powers. He spoke about the farsightedness shown by the drafting members of the Constitution in providing an enduring framework of the Rule of Law to fulfill the aspirations of over a billion people.<\/p>\n

Two short documentaries on India\u2019s Constitution titled ‘India \u2013The Spirit of Freedom’ and ‘Mooknayak \u2013 Leader of the Silent’ were screened on the occasion. On the sidelines, an exhibition of a collection of photographs on the theme – ‘Making of the Indian Constitution’ were also displayed.<\/p>\n\r\n
