Ambassador of Poland H.E. Pawe\u0142 Lechowicz hosted a reception for the Polish community in Kuwait to commemorate the 101st anniversary of the restoration of Poland\u2019s independence. Highlight of the reception, held at the embassy on 7 November, was a piano and song recital by a popular pianist and singer.<\/p>\n
Restoration of Poland\u2019s sovereignty in 1918, after 123 years of partition under German, Austro-Hungarian and Russian Empires is celebrated as the country\u2019s National Independence Day on 11 November of each year. Following Second World War, Poland came under the influence of the Soviet Union. It was only after the fall of the Polish People\u2019s Republic that a sovereign democratic Polish state was set up in 1989. Despite these occupations and influences, Polish democracy is one of the oldest in the world with roots of Poland\u2019s democratic, libertarian and parliamentary traditions stretching back to the fifteenth century.<\/p>\n
In the three decades since 1989, a modern Poland has evolved witnessing free, democratic parliamentary and presidential elections, a new constitution, economic prosperity, memberships of NATO and the EU. The country has experienced remarkable growth and advancement to become a leader in various industries, including in digitization, financial technology, food production and business outsourcing among others.<\/p>\n\r\n
