A grand reception was organized by the Ambassador of the Czech Republic H.E. Martin Dvo\u0159\u00e1k, on the occasion of the 101st Anniversary of the country\u2019s Independence, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on 28 October.\u00a0 Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Dr. Fahad Al-Afasi was the chief guest on the occasion, which was attended by members of the diplomatic corps, special invitees, and media personnel.<\/p>\n
In his address to the gathering, Ambassador Dvorak lauded the close bilateral relations between the Czech Republic and Kuwait. Emphasizing that the Czech Republic remains a strong ally of Kuwait, he added that there are many commonalities between the two countries. He pointed out that his country was one of the first to open an embassy in Kuwait in 1963, and stressed that the relations between the two countries have continued to develop over the years.<\/p>\n
The ambassador also spoke about the various cooperation and cultural exchanges between the two countries, and added that the volume of trade exchanges between the two could be enhanced from the current $100 million annually.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the tourism potential of his country and its various attractions, the ambassador revealed that thousands of Kuwaitis visit the Czech Republic to avail of health facilities provided by the country\u2019s numerous sanatoriums and health springs.<\/p>\n
The Czech Republic is celebrated as the Land of Stories, with gorgeous sights such as royal castles and lovely chateaux, charming gardens, ancient treasures, legends and historical towns abound. Most amazing are the country\u2019s UNESCO cultural heritage sites, particularly the historical gardens and chateau in Krom\u011b\u0159\u00ed\u017e and the Pilgrimage Church of St. John of Nepomuk steeped in symbolism in \u017d\u010f\u00e1r nad S\u00e1zavou.<\/p>\n
The country also has a vibrant and exciting entertainment sector with museums, theatre performances, festivals among others in its many pulsating cities.<\/p>\n\r\n
