Oman-hosted meetings of GCC ministers and officials of tourism and culture have recommended plans to advanced joint action at these levels, the Kuwaiti Minister of Information said. Mohammad Al-Jabri, also the Minister of State for Youth Affairs, said in a statement on Thursday at the sessions’ conclusion that the GCC 2020-2030 cultural strategy was adopted.<\/p>\n
He indicated that the officials approved blueprints to link up cultural activities at the national level with the joint strategy. They also agreed to GCC countries’ participation in a number of cultural activities organized in Arab and foreign states, in addition to establishing communications with international cultural organizations.<\/p>\n
At the tourism level, the GCC tourism officials blessed a number of recommendations, namely an executive plan for “the comprehensive vision of joint tourist action.” A Gulf city will be chosen every year to be proclaimed “the Gulf tourism capital,” he declared, also alluding to one of the decisions taken by the tourism officials. A joint program “Eesh Al-Khaljeej (live the Gulf)” was endorsed, he said.<\/p>\n
Moreover, the meeting approved a memo presented by the GCC Secretariat General for holding an annual exhibition for artifacts. Al-Jabri lauded the pivotal role played by Oman, the current chair of the GCC summit, affirming that culture and tourism constituted substantial foundations of the GCC countries’ economies and development.
