Nearly 300 domestic helpers have been arrested and referred to the Ministry of Interior\u2019s General Department of Investigation and Residence Affairs for legal action, including their blacklisting and deportation.<\/p>\n

Blacklisting will prevent the detainees from transferring their domestic residence permits to Article 18 visas and seek employment in the private sector. Also, by being blacklisted, the lawbreakers will not be permitted to re-enter Kuwait once they have been deported from the country.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the arrests, Deputy Director of the Labor Protection Sector at the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM), Mubarak Al-Azmi, confirmed that supervision and inspection of recruitment agencies had been tightened to find out the extent of their commitment to the application of the law \u201868\/2015\u2019 on domestic workers. He added that legal action will also be taken against the sponsors under whom the arrested domestic helpers were working.<\/p>\n

Al-Azmi noted that controlling the labor market in general and domestic labor in particular is a top priority for PAM therefore, the Department of Domestic Workers had been provided with six new inspectors to monitor the recruitment agencies and ensure that the law is strictly applied.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
