National Assembly Speaker Ahmed Al-Saadoun said Kuwait\u2019s speech at the United Nations was clear and addressed all parties that stood with Kuwait in its crisis during the ordeal of the invasion, considering that the ruling issued by the Federal Court in Iraq is not consistent with the Security Council\u2019s decisions and with what was agreed upon.<\/p>\n
This came in a press statement yesterday, on the sidelines of the Saudi Embassy\u2019s celebration of Saudi National Day at the Jaber Center, reports Al-Qabas daily.<\/p>\n
In response to a question about how the Council could provide assistance to the government through its contacts, he said: \u201cThe Council dealt with the government well. We are facing a new issue. Resolution No. 833 is binding on both Kuwait and Iraq. Kuwait\u2019s opinion was clear and the decision was intended to demarcate what was agreed upon between the two countries.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cI am optimistic, and the relations between Kuwait and Iraq are clear, and the Iraqi statements that showed commitment to Security Council resolutions and the conclusions of international legitimacy, which were issued by more than one official in Iraq, call for optimism, but what connects us with Iraq in demarcating the borders is first of all the decisions issued by the Security Council Resolution No 833 approved by Iraq.\u201d<\/p>\n
Regarding the relationship between the legislative and executive authorities, Al-Saadoun said that \u201cwe are currently going through an unprecedented stage in Kuwait, after the historic speech of His Highness the Amir, which was delivered on his behalf by His Highness the Crown Prince last June, which determined Kuwait\u2019s path through adherence to the constitutional document, and then the steps taken by the government.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cThe consensus between the government and MPs in the previous session led to the completion of many issues that were demanded by the previous and successive parliaments.\u201d<\/p>\n
