Two American men were discovered on Monday after spending a drunken night up the\u00a0Eiffel Tower, the monument\u2019s management told CNN on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The two men, who had Sunday evening tickets for\u00a0Paris\u2019 famous iron tower, were \u201callegedly trapped there due to their excessive alcohol consumption,\u201d the Paris prosecutor\u2019s office told CNN.<\/p>\n
The tourists were found asleep early on Monday morning by Eiffel Tower security staff doing their rounds ahead of the monument\u2019s opening, according to the prosecutor\u2019s office and SETE (Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 d\u2019Exploitation de la tour Eiffel), the operator that runs the site.<\/p>\n
The tourists were then \u201cquickly removed\u201d and handed over to Paris police. SETE will press charges for the intrusion, the operator said, although they admitted that the two men presented \u201cno threat\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs no damage was found, the fine for trespassing on a historic or cultural site was dismissed,\u201d the Paris prosecutor\u2019s office added.<\/p>\n
