National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim announced Thursday that the government would not attend the special session on May 12. “Today, the government informed me it would not attend the session due to lack of coordination,” Al-Ghanim stated to reporters.<\/p>\n

In this case, the session will not be held, he said, adding he has called to hold the special session in accordance with bylaw processes. The government usually attends parliamentary special sessions when coordination is made with it on subjects of discussion or session scheduling, noted Al-Ghanim.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the top lawmaker said that he would not attend the session, anyway, adding his deputy Eisa Al-Kanderi would be his substitute in running the session if it is held.<\/p>\n

Al-Ghanim also mentioned that a number of MPs have requested allocating two hours in next session for discussing the regional situations surrounding the country, noting coordination is currently underway with the government in that regard.<\/p>\n
