The global traffic index also known as the “Tom Tom Traffic Index” revealed that an average travel of 10 kms in Kuwait takes 12.5 minutes, while the average speed in rush hour is 44 km\/hr. The annual “Tom Tom” index also stated that a driver spends 106 hours every year in rush hour and that driving a car in most cities in the world is a very expensive affair. <\/p>\n
The report indicated that the survey which was conducted by its researchers covered 56 countries, 389 cities and metro areas with the aim of evaluating peak travel times, fuel costs and carbon dioxide emissions to identify the most difficult and the most suitable cities for cars. <\/p>\n
The report further indicated that \u201cTom Tom\u201d obtained, through its products and services, traffic data such as speed, acceleration, time, and distance in order to understand patterns and average values, which was then combined with map data such as slopes and road safety using the \u201cPassenger Cars and Heavy Emissions\u201d model of the Graz University of Technology in order to estimate fuel consumption. <\/p>\n
The index found that London was still the most difficult city to travel by car, taking an average of 36 minutes to cover 10 kilometers, nearly two minutes more than the previous year. The Indian city of Bengaluru ranked second with a time of 29 minutes to cover the same distance. <\/p>\n
New York City appeared for the first time on the index list as the first American city in it and ranked 19th with an average time of 24.5 minutes to travel 10 km, while cities such as Washington, San Francisco, Boston and Chicago came in close ranks. On the other hand, the city of Orlando came in a good position with a time of 10 minutes and 20 seconds to cover the same distance, while Oklahoma recorded the shortest time, which is 8.4 minutes. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
