{"id":112030,"date":"2022-11-19T14:07:17","date_gmt":"2022-11-19T11:07:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timeskuwait.com\/news\/?p=112030"},"modified":"2022-11-19T14:07:17","modified_gmt":"2022-11-19T11:07:17","slug":"fda-approval-of-drug-gives-hope-for-diabetics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timeskuwait.com\/news\/fda-approval-of-drug-gives-hope-for-diabetics\/","title":{"rendered":"FDA approval of drug gives hope for diabetics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The US Food and Drug Administration on Friday approved the first drug that can delay the progression of type 1 diabetes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Teplizumab targets the autoimmune problems that cause T1D type 1 diabetes, rather than its symptoms.\u00a0On the importance of the drug, Dr. John Sharets, director of the Division of Diabetes, Lipid Disorders and Obesity at the Center for Drug Evaluation, said in a statement that \u201cdelaying the onset of type 1 diabetes will have an important impact on the daily lives of people at risk of developing diabetes, their families, and the public health system,\u201d reports a local Arabic daily quoting UPI news agency.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis will free patients from the constant burden and stress of monitoring blood sugar and administering insulin,\u201d Sharets added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He added, &#8220;The drug will give patients more time to live their lives without insulin injections or finger pricks that measure blood sugar.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is worth noting that people who have two or more autoantibodies associated with T1D and whose blood sugar levels begin to become abnormal are at high risk of developing the disease.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Diabetes is described as a &#8220;silent killer&#8221;, since the majority of those who suffer from it do not realize it, as it often does not show early symptoms.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The US Food and Drug Administration on Friday approved the first drug that can delay the progression of type 1 diabetes.
