Work on Terminal 2 progressing as planned

Over one-third of the work on Kuwait’s prestigious Terminal 2 project at Kuwait International Airport has been completed as per schedule. This was announced by the ministerial committee for public services following a tour of the project.

Terminal 2 is slated for completion and handover in 2023, as of yesterday, 36 percent of the work has been completed said the ministerial committee at a press conference held after their inspection visit to monitor the status of work progress. So far, the project’s expenses have amounted to 21.3 percent, while delay in completion remains little and has not crossed the 0.3 percent,the evaluation team said.

The government is keen to press ahead with implementing this grand project, which is divided into three phases, and launch it within the approved time frame, said the committee. Moreover, all state entities are working in tandem to ensure that the T2 is completed on time to attain HIs Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah’s vision to transform Kuwait into financial and economic hub.

The committee also stressed that His Highness the Prime MInister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah is paying close attention to the progress and workflow of T2 and to ensure that all obstacles are removed so as to facilitate its opening in time. The committee also commended the huge efforts exerted by the Ministry of Public Works and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to move the project forward through each phase.

For his part, the Chairman of DGCA Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah said that T2 would be a substantial addition to Kuwait International Airport and a quantum leap in the air-transport field in the country. The project, when completed, will have a capacity to handle 25 million passengers annually. The chairman also lauded the support and efforts of Minister of Commerce and Industry Khaled Al-Rudhan, as well as other ministers in the ministerial committee for public services for making the new passenger terminal a priority through their constant attention and follow up. Furthermore, the DGCA chief commended the great efforts exerted by the staff of public works ministry, notably Minister Dr. Jenan Boushehri, noting their endeavor had an apparent impact on the project’s workflow and completion progress.
