Health authorities at the United States Army camp in Kuwait have isolated and placed under observation a US soldier after he showed symptoms of the COVID-19 infection.
The soldier had reportedly just returned after vacationing in Italy, where the virus has spread throughout the country and claimed the lives of more than 470 people, forcing the government there to quarantine entire towns and cities.
The US Army Central Command spokesman Navy Capt. Bill Urban said that the soldier was tested and placed in isolation as a precautionary measure while officials await the test results. He added that those with whom the soldier had come in recent contact have also been screened in accordance with the current guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
