The US, for the third consecutive day, recorded in the past 24 hours over 50,000 new coronavirus cases, according to Johns Hopkins University.
The tally showed that at least 51,842 new cases were recorded nationwide, bringing the total cases to 2,793,435.
Almost 700 coronavirus deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours as the total deaths in the nation reached 129,434.
Up to 36 states have witnessed a spike in coronavirus cases with California, Arizona, Texas and Florida all reporting record new cases last week.
