University of Newcastle nominates Dr Yassin for 2022 Achievement Award

The University of Newcastle, in the North East of England, in the United Kingdom, has nominated Dr. Hamad Muhammad Yassin, Professor of Genetics at the Kuwait University, for the University Graduate Achievement Award for the 2022.

Dr Yassin completed his studies at the Newcastle University, and obtained his Master’s and Doctorate degrees in medical genetics, and recently participated in a long-standing study, partially funded by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, to discover a third gene that causes polycystic kidney disease.

Dr Yassin told a local Arabic daily he is proud of being nominated by Newcastle University for this award, considering it a motivation for him to work more to spread scientific awareness, especially through his position at the Kuwait University, as a member of the Board of Directors of the Scientific Center, and a researcher at the Dasman Institute for Diabetes.

The University of Newcastle sets criteria for its nominees for the award, including outstanding contribution to business, industry or community life, ability to inspire the next generation of current and potential students, or demonstrated involvement with the university, particularly through volunteer work.
