University Council allows name change of the College of Allied Medical Sciences

The Council of Kuwait University has given nod to change the name of the College of Allied Medical Sciences to become the College of Medical and Rehabilitation Sciences, to establish a nursing department, and to develop a four-pronged nursing program.

This came during a council meeting chaired by Acting Director of Kuwait University, Dr. Suad Al-Fadhli, which was held in the university council meeting room, in the presence of council members.

Dr. Al-Fadhli told a local Arabic daily after the meeting that the council discussed the items on its agenda and decided to approve the request of the Ministry of Higher Education to completely renew the assignment of some members of the academic staff for a period of one year, in light of the approval of the councils of scientific departments and councils of colleges.

She added that the council also approved the proposals of the College of Allied Medical Sciences regarding changing the current name of the college to become the College of Medical and Rehabilitation Sciences, and approved the establishment of the nursing department in the college, and approved the development of a nursing program.

She indicated that the council stressed on the importance of institutional academic accreditation for Kuwait University and approved the two proposals of the Faculty of Graduate Studies regarding the plan, announcement, conditions of admission, the numbers expected to be accepted for the academic year 2023/2024, and the numbers of admissions for postgraduate scholarships for the same year.

And she reported that the council approved the proposal of the Deanship of Admission and Registration regarding the university calendar for the academic years 2023/2024-2024/2025-2025/2026 after submitting it for accreditation from the Council of Public Universities, indicating that it had approved the proposal of some colleges to promote 17 faculty members to the rank of professor and associate professor from various humanitarian, social and practical faculties.
