United Kingdom added to list of 34 banned countries

United Kingdom is the latest country to be considered high-risk and added to the list of 34 banned countries, from where flights are prohibited from entering Kuwait, based on the instructions of the health authorities, Al Rai daily reported.

The Ministry of Health requested Civil Aviation to add the United Kingdom to the list of high risk countries. Travelers arriving from these countries must spend 14 days in countries not included in the list before being permitted to entry to Kuwait.

Kuwait’s decision came after similar measures taken by several countries, especially in Europe, following the announcement that a new strain of the Coronavirus was discovered that transmitted faster from person to person and was spreading in parts of Britain.

The World Health Organization called for tightening measures to contain the virus, and urged European countries to “double their restrictions”, stressing the need to take all preventive measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and adhere to the directives of the health authorities.

Earlier, Kuwait announced a list of countries where flights to and from are suspended until further notice. The list currently includes Afghanistan, Argentina, Armenia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chile, China, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Egypt, France, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Kosovo, Lebanon, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, Nepal, Northern Macedonia, Panama, Pakistan, Peru, the Philippines, Serbia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Syria and Yemen.
