Two juveniles and one adult with ties to terrorist groups

The Ministry of Interior announced today, Saturday, the arrest of two juveniles, ages 15 and 16, and another adult in possession of unlicensed weapons and ammunition with an  interest to carry out an extremist ideology. In a press release about the incident, the Ministry’s General Department for Security Relations and Media stated that the relevant security agencies cooperated, and after an investigation, one of the accused was arrested and admitted he had become acquainted with a person with ties to a terrorist group on social media. Discussions between them led to a sharing of an extremist ideology.

After conducting further investigations and collecting information, two other persons were arrested, one of whom shares the same extremist ideology. After obtaining the necessary legal permission, their homes were searched, and unlicensed weapons and ammunition, pictures and other devices were found. On being confronted with the evidence, they admitted to being in the possession of weapons and ammunition.

The Ministry of Interior called on parents to pay attention to children, and listen to their concerns, and monitor their use of social networking sites, so they do not fall to extremist ideas and enter sites that publicize information in violation of the law, which opens them to punishments under the law.
