TVS Travels Co., a leading Travel Company in Kuwait, arranged for two special flights to Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, a state in India on 20th June 2020. 165 passengers onboard Jazeera Airways took off from Kuwait and landed at Trichy on 21st June, and another flight arranged by TVS through Indigo Airlines landed in Trichy.
As the scheduled flights from the Indian central government are insufficient in the current circumstances (more than 80000 people have registered with Indian Embassy Kuwait to be allowed to return to Kuwait, the leading Travel agencies, NRI organizations and some companies are arranging for charter flights for returning Indians stranded in Kuwait during the COVID lockdown. As per the government instructions all the passengers are currently quarantined in the TVS arranged hotels for seven days and at the end of their stint, they will be reunited with their families happily.
Both the flights operated with all the precautionary measures and guidelines laid down by the governments before they landed in Tiruchirappalli as per the schedule.
However, most of the Airlines were focused on other parts of India except Tamil Nadu cities due to the difficulties in getting the approval from the local state government. Several members of the Tamil community have expressed their desire for a special charter flight to return to their homeland.
Dr. S.M. Hyder Ali, Chairman, TVS Hyder Group initiated the process to operate the special flight to Tamil Nadu. He had discussions with various associations here in Kuwait and wanted to help Tamil Nadu people, especially the workers, pregnant women and students who have been stranded here in Kuwait. TVS focused on planning charter flights to Tamil Nadu cities only. Dr. Hyder Ali and his team worked day and night to get all the approvals from the Airlines, Embassy, governments and others.
TVS is currently planning to operate the charter flight to other cities too and is considering this as a service extended to Indian brothers and sisters who are stranded in Kuwait. TVS Travels co. are thankful to the governments of India and Kuwait, Indian Embassy – Kuwait and Tamil Nadu state government for allowing the airlines to operate these special flights from Kuwait to Tiruchirappalli at this crucial time that allowed for the safe return of Indian citizens.
