The 31 country ban list is still in effect

Government sources revealed that the Cabinet decided, during its meeting today, to continue the ban list of 31 countries from where travelers are prohibited from entering Kuwait until further notice, reports Al Qabas.  The health authorities recommended the continuation of the list taking into account local and international health indicators, and that the spread of the coronavirus epidemic is still continuing and has not decreased in those countries.

The ban decision is under review on a weekly basis based on the health indicators of the coronavirus spread in those countries and international reports.

The Civil Aviation Authority announced a ban on flights to 31 destinations, based on the instructions of the health authorities and given the situation and the implications of the spread of the coronavirus in high-risk countries. The Civil Aviation Authority mentioned, through its Twitter account, the countries affected by the ban, are India, Iran, China, Brazil, Colombia, Armenia, Bangladesh, Philippines, Syria, Spain, Singapore, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Iraq, Mexico, Indonesia, Chile, Pakistan, Egypt, Lebanon, Hong Kong, Italy, North Macedonia, Moldova, Panama, Peru, Serbia, Montenegro, Dominican Republic and Kosovo.

However, the DGCA announced an addendum to the circular that highlights how Kuwaitis are permitted entry to the country at any time, even if they are arriving from the 31 countries currently on a ban list from entering Kuwait, as long as they can show a PCR certificate with a validity of 72 hours.

According to the circular, non-Kuwaiti arrival passengers who are a first-degree relative to a Kuwaiti national such as a father, mother, husband, Wife or filial (sons and daughters) are also granted permission to enter Kuwait, on the condition they have proof of their relationship. This also includes domestic workers accompanying the sponsor with a valid residency.

In the event of a sponsor’s death outside Kuwait, domestic workers are still allowed to enter Kuwait.

Health authorities have requested people avoid traveling to and from 31 countries due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.
