‘Teacher’s license’ may include everyone, decision awaited

The oversight committee responsible for reviewing the documentation for the teacher’s licensing initiative in the State of Kuwait has announced the completion of the initial draft of the teacher’s license.

This comprehensive draft encompasses two distinct tracks, one administrative and the other technical. The draft will soon be presented to Dr. Adel Al-Manea, the Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, by the end of this month, reports Al-Rai daily.

This presentation will mark a crucial step in deciding the implementation date and the procedural framework for its application within educational institutions.

According to a trusted educational source, the proposed license system will be applicable to educational staff members, school principals, assistant principals, and technical mentors.

However, it will take different forms based on the administrative and technical tracks. Minister Al-Manea will play a pivotal role in determining whether this licensing system will be exclusively for new teachers or will encompass all educational staff members.

Formed on April 9, the review committee for the teacher’s license project is led by the Assistant Dean of Admission and Registration at the General Authority for Applied Education and Training, Dr. Fawzi Al-Dokhi, who is a Professor of Curricula and Teaching Methods.

The committee comprises seven notable figures from the educational sector, each tasked with defining the implementation process of the teacher’s license. Their responsibilities include devising a strategic plan for on-the-ground implementation and ensuring that all administrative, legislative, and technical prerequisites for the project are met.
